hello Fall | Today Page Marker Hack for my Filofax

Decorating my planner is not something I spend tons of time on. If anything,  I add some washi tape to the ring side of the page or maybe a countdown calendar. I carry around a couple different page designs of Gratitude inserts because sometimes I forget to tuck my travelers notebook Gratitude Journal into my tote bag. I really do use my planner as a planner, not another memory keeping project because I feel like I have enough memory keeping projects to keep my busy.

But, I do like to look at pretty things, even in my Filofax. While I was trimming my Fall Bucket List journaling cards, I wondered if I could hack it to use as a Today page marker.

Well I tried and I think it worked pretty well! The DATE tab peeks out just enough for me to find my page and it's sturdy enough since I printed it on 110 lb. card stock.

Let's Make It

After printing my Fall journaling cards, I knew I wanted to use the Hello Fall as a Today marker and had to figure out a way to have room to punch holes for my Filofax planner. Take a look at the photo below to see how I trimmed my cards to do that.

my recurring dreams

It never fails. The cats can be in deep slumber somewhere in the netherlands of our home and once I decide to do a photo shoot for a blog post or shop listing, the kitties think it's their cue to photo bomb.

List 25 | My Recurring Dreams Include

In this post, I shared my thoughts about decorating this page. The chevron tag was part of the mini book embellishment kit, but you can find sets of 20 cardstock tags in the shop.

The journaling card {part of the freebie kit I designed for all #30lists participants received} is tucked inside the bag. See how I punched a mini speech bubble onto a die cut {here is a similar set} and placed it on the 1" circle? Just having a little fun.

Have you seen the new Fall Bucket List journaling card set? It's in the shop as an instant download printable.

420 lists all about me

I did the math yesterday and figured out that at the end of the September #30lists challenge, I'll have completed 420 lists all about me. But wait, I've completed way more lists that that.

There have been many, many more lists than that. There was...

List 7 | My Go To Outfits

set of 14 file tab die cuts

There are a number of ways I could have added my list to the page: stickers, labels, washi tape or even a journaling card. I pulled out some vellum and a black Sharpie, though, and it lets that super fun yellow yardstick still peek through.

I then trimmed through what was left of a sticker {it was part of the mini album embellishment kit} and used a portion of it on top of the printable on the left side of the page and a portion on the bottom right of the list page.

See how I used a paper doily and some more skinny yellow washi tape that I also added to the bottom left of my list.

DIY canvas halloween treat bags

These DIY canvas Halloween treat bags are big enough to pack a few goodies into, but not so large that you'll go broke. {wink wink}

First, you'll need some cotton muslin bags:

Next, gather your supplies. I used a variety of stamps, black and green ink, some misting spray and a marker to color in the word boo.

If my acrylic stamps are on a sheet, I store them in these glassine bags and stand them up in a storage container inside one of my tool chest drawers you can see here

Now, just stamp your desired design onto your canvas bag. Take care...depending upon what type of ink you're using, you may want to slip some scrap card stock inside the bag so that it doesn't bleed to the other side.

After I stamped my bag, I thought it needed something else. I rummaged through my drawers and ran across some color mist that I've had in my stash for years. I think the addition of the mist adds that extra bit of ghoulishness I was looking for!

fall bucket list in my travelers notebook

There's a new instant download Fall journaling card set in the shop and I couldn't stop myself from taking some time yesterday to create with them. I'm a sucker for all things Fall...the colors, the temperatures, the crispness in the air, a warm, crackling fire AND sweater weather.

Here's how they look after they're trimmed to size. Won't these 3x4 cards be perfect for our Project Life pocket pages, scrapbook layouts and mini books? Just use your 1" circle punch for the Date journaling spots.

Easy DIY Kindle Paperwhite Cover Tutorial

#kindle #cover #tutorial #paperwhite #diy #iloveitallblog

I've been wanting a cover for my Kindle Paperwhite since we bought it nearly a year ago. I'm always tossing it in my purse as I head out the door for school pick up or sport and music practices.  And, for some reason I just didn't make it a priority even though G has been somewhat kindly reminding me that I need to get a cover so I don't scratch it up.

If I knew it was going to be so easy, and cheap, I would have made this eons ago.

THE TUTORIAL

    1.  SUPPLIES you'll need:

    • felt sheet
    • hook and loop tape
    • your eReader for sizing
    • cutting mat
    • rotary cutter or scissors
    • sewing machine

    2.  MEASURE | Begin by measuring your reader and leaving a 1/4" seam area all around. For example, my Kindle Paperwhite measures 4.50" x 6.50" so I trimmed my felt sheet to 7.75" x 11.75".

It's important that you first "square off" your felt sheet so that all edges are straight. Don't rely on the edges of the felt sheet you purchased to be perfect and straight as it is. You can see what I mean by that in the photo below. If I had not trimmed to make straight edges, my cover would have been wonky.

List 4 | I Feel My Best When
Me Time and Let It Go are two HUGE factors in me feeling my best. I work every day on not dwelling on things I cannot change. I've realized that if I'm not feeling my best, the rest of the family suffers and that's not fair. Honetly, I think menopause has a part in all that.
Okay, a good hair day goes a long way, too!

Those Thickers are my all-time favorites, I'll be sad when the last of my stash are gone. I often use kraft paper strips as journaling strips, they seem to anchor the journaling when placed on patterned cardstock. I've used this trick many times in my mini books, but I bet you already knew that!

This post has quite a few sample pages using journaling strips.

List Five | My Excuses for Being Late
Yeah, I'm more of a "just on time" kind of girl. Which to my Mom is the same thing as being late. Growing up, we were always early. And she's always early. To the point that sometimes I want to give her a time 15 minutes later just so she show's up on time. *bad daughter*

The gold washi tape was a page design and came as is in this mini book. It has sold out, but I have similar journals in the shop if you like this style of memory keeping.

    busy hands, happy heart

I like to keep my hands busy. I'm a multi-tasker at heart and often do more than one thing at a time. I feel guilty for watching TV when I could and should be doing so many other things. While I was on a Netflix binge last week, I browsed my crochet love board on Pinterest and found this tutorial and my heart was happy!

This pattern is so simple, so easy and oh, so gratifying to work with. I have a few ideas on how to embellish these colorful rounds and may even finish off a few into granny squares.

learn something new every day | the beginning

Here's my cover and the basket of goodies I gathered so that everything's in one place. Here's where I found the teal rose ribbon. The stamped girl image is from Jenni Bowlin.

I signed up for Shimelle's Learn Something New Every Day class last year. Yes, you read that correctly. I have heard so much about her many classes from my bloggy friends that I thought it was about time that I try one for myself. As a side note, I am woefully behind in completing each day's list, but I'm happy to share what I have completed thus far. I am using something from my stash. It's a mini book cover from EK Success and it has grey coils that I'll be adding after all my pages are complete.

    do you love lists?

If you love lists and journaling, then the #30lists challenge is the perfect way for you to create a little snapshot of your "right now" moments. This will be my 14th challenge to participate in, I'm an Ambassador, and each time I learn a little something new about myself!

    List One | But First...

    But always hugs and kisses.

And to think that I didn't even drink coffee until 4 or 5 years ago. I used one of the "today" free printables I designed for the challenge and some of my favorite of all time Thickers. It will be a sad day when they're all gone.

List Two | I Am Excited For

Don't blink, you might just miss my list. I jotted down a few things in the "label" that was part of the paper design. I'm such a tricky girl!
