5 products | write.click.scrapbook. july gallery

Have you ever limited yourself to just 5 products when designing a layout? Or card? That's what the team at write.click.scrapbook. did for this month's Gallery. Hop on over to check out all the amazing interpretations of 5 products in a variety of styles and projects. Galleries are always full of inspiration from each and every designer and so very "PINteresting" as well!

Not that this is technically a layout, but here is my contribution to this month's assignment. My thought, as I began designing was that  it would be a fun piece of art, especially for Summer! So, I went with that. This could easily be transformed into six skinny photos or adding small photos where the tissue paper flowers are if you want to make it into a layout.

My 5 products are:
kraft cardstock
{just 10 for $1 in the I Love It All shop}
washi tape
letter stickers
{used 7 layers of yellow tissue paper and a MS medallion punch secured with a brad}

Still in the process of spray painting a frame so I can display my little piece of homemade art. Once I get it all gussied up, I'll share. Oh, and here's the Gallery so you can see what the other write.click.scrapbook. teammates created.

Circles, circles everywhere. Two circles to be exact. Well, I guess you could technically say four. The metal-rimmed key tag, the pink cardstock punched circle added to the top of the tag, the Pink Sorbet baker's twine from The Twinery wound into a circle and...

...then, there's the 2" circle I punched into the card front to showcase my circle embellished element placed inside my card.

Even the creatures of the wild watch after their young with a watchful eye, it's just a Mama's nature to do so. Even though I carefully opened our kitchen door, the two Mama turkeys sensed "a disturbance in the force" and quickly began running in the other direction. They did eventually head back toward the house and then Scout {our border collie pup} saw them. He ran the other way, not sure what to think of these creatures. The turkeys seemed to know that he would not bother them, so they continued along the creek bed. I had to watch them through the dining room window, which would have given me a better photograph if I had opened the window, but I didn't want to scare them away again.

We see lots of turkeys here, but I think this is the first time in 14 years that I saw turkey babies that young, which was a treat for all the Wright girls.

When I made this Smash style mini book for our Anniversary, as my card to Gordon, I wasn't quite sure how he would react. Is he tired of me spilling my guts about how I feel about him inside cute little albums?

Let me just say that it appears the tradition should continue. It was a hit! As promised in my guest blogger post at Big Picture Classes last week, I'll share some pages with you.

so happy together

Full Disclosure...this layout was created, photographed and uploaded in 20 minutes. I say that for a few reasons. One, it can be done. Two, it helps if you begin with the thought that this must happen quickly. And three, I used a printable I designed so you can do this, too!

I designed a printable that could be used in so many different ways. In Project Life, as a gift bag tag, on a card, in a mini book. I have a feeling these tags will be used in quite a few more projects in the next little bit. And I also finally used a sheet of paper that I had been hoarding for YEARS. Why do we do that? At one time, ledger paper was the hottest thing going but I was afraid to use it. Well, it just seemed perfect for this.

I've had this photo on my memo board in my craft space since Easter 2011. Since I had just minutes to create a layout, I decided to finally scrap this photo. Won't our kids and grandkids {if we're so lucky} think we're crazy to photograph our feet? Guess what, I would love to have photos of my Grandparents and their favorite shoes of the moment. I still love those ballet slippers, by the way.

See where the embellishments are all clustered? It's because when I took the photo, there was a whole lot of Gordon's legs overtaking the photo. By clustering everything in that spot, it kind of puts the focus back on our shoes.

I used my scallop punch for "the perfect pair" and a bit of the green was still showing, so I trimmed it off and used it anyway, but the round tags are sized so that you can use your 2" round punch.

Yesterday was a big day for the Wright girls! It was Oma day and then DaDa met us at the Bike Shop, where Papa's nephew works, so that Isabella and Victoria could be fitted for bicycles. Isabella had simply outgrown her bicycle and it was time for a new one and Victoria was promised a new bike if she could learn to ride without training wheels. Well, she accomplished that feat in just a week, much quicker than we thought it would happen. So in two weeks, Victoria has gone from riding a 12" bike with training wheels to a 20" big girl bike that has 7 speeds and hand brakes. And Isabella went from an 18" bike to a 24" bike with 21 speeds and hand brakes and in just under an hour on the driveway, Isabella is riding with confidence and agility and pride.

These three bike enthusiasts and family members, wearing red, proudly pose with the new pink bikes.

P.S. Don't Papa and his nephew look so much alike!

blogaversary celebration | house and family rules giveaway

The Giveaways of the Day

This Giveaway is now closed.

When designing prints for the shop, I generally begin by creating art that I would like to display in our own home. The House and Family Rules art prints began with just that thought. I didn't even jot thoughts down on paper, I just began typing up rules we follow in our own family. I am still blown away by how wildy popular these Rules Subway Art prints remain. They're now available in 8x10, 11x14, 13x19 and even the 16x20 poster size. As I work to perfect them, I occasionally have oddball prints. Still perfectly acceptable in quality and color, just not a standard size. The reason I tell you this is this...these are your giveaway prizes today. Not standard sizes, but still perfectly charming!

HOUSE AND FAMILY RULES SUBWAY ART PRINT
actual size of print | 10.25" x 14"
color | turquoise

OR

HOUSE AND FAMILY RULES SUBWAY ART PRINT

These and other prints for your home or to gift friends and family for weddings, anniversaries, baby showers, birthdays or as a housewarming gift can be found for family & home, love & marriage,  children and even custom & personalized designs are available in the shop in a multitude of pleasing colors.

the twinery & my little shoebox | blog hop

Hello Crafty Friends, Welcome to the Blog Hop featuring the design teams from

You should have arrived here from the blog of the lovely Liz Chidester. To make sure you don't miss a stop, begin at The Twinery blog for the full lineup.

NOTE: This giveaway is now closed.

I'm so pleased to be sharing with you my project today. While I was out shopping yesterday, I used a coupon to purchase this Sizzix mini book die. Love it! I had to quickly scramble to begin creating, finish the project and photograph them in time for the hop. I actually made two...one for each of my girls. They're really beginning to get into photography, telling stories and ask me to make them journals and mini albums all the time.

See that cute paper flower? I used this tutorial, but when I saw the book print paper from My Little Shoebox, I just knew that I needed to find a way to incorporate twine into this paper flower idea.

I punched six scalloped shapes and in the center of the flower, punched two 1/16" holes. I strung Lemondrop baker's twine {instead of using a brad} up through the first hole, wrapped my needle with twine five times and then threaded the needle back through the second hole. In effect, I made a french knot with baker's twine. You'll be rewarded with an adorable handcrafted paper flower!

DESIGN TIP: Threading baker's twine is much easier using floral wire.

The cover of my mini books incorporates Blossom, Maraschino and Lemondrop baker's twine and papers from the Happy Go Lucky collection. These albums are so perfect for my precious and energetic girls to fill with their drawings of the wildflowers we see everyday and photos of our new puppy and accomplishments they've made this Summer...swimming without water wings, riding a bicycle without training wheels and...

Just a touch of Stone baker's twine here.

And what project for young girls is complete without Blossom?

Punched some 1/16" holes and sewed a trimmed journaling spot to the page with Honeydew and used the Mini Alphabet Sticker from My Little Shoebox in Red Lipstick.

After adhering two glue dots to the base of this paper clip, I wound Cantaloupe twine into a swirl! The shipping tag uses Mandarin tied into a bow. I fussy cut the clouds from the Happy Go Lucky collection, On Cloud 9.

And I had to add some Denim for my youngest who adores all things blue. It's tied to a tag I made and inserted into the pocket made from a journaling spot machine-stitched to my page.

Did you see how I used a bit of baker's twine on each and every page of the mini book? Love, love, love The Twinery twine and just adore all the fun and sweet papers and journaling spots and alpha stickers from My Little Shoebox, it was a joy to create with them. Your next stop on the hop is with the lovely Monique Liedtke. But wait...

when you hop along with us all week long,
you could win four spools of baker's twine in your choice of colors

and

two fabulous collections from My Little Shoebox

All you have to do to be eligible to win is visit the participating blogs on the hop each day and leave a comment. Deadline to leave comments to win in 11:59 pm EDT, Saturday, June 23, 2012. Winners will be announced on The Twinery and My Little Shoebox blogs.
